The Southeast Junior Rowing Club (SEJ) conducts a three–week summer rowing development program for junior level athletes using the campus of Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The SEJ summer high performance program focuses on developing racing speed and aspects of the sport necessary to prepare dedicated athletes for competing at the next level.
For 2014 SEJ will be female only due to summer housing construction on the Baylor School campus. SEJ is limited to one dormitory which limits slots. As a result there will only be 40 female athlete slots and 5 female coxswains available. These slots will be highly competitive and should fill quickly. We apologize and hope to get the men’s program going again in 2015.
SEJ is geared for athletes that are developing towards the requirements of the USRowing junior development system or a college program. Athletes will experience a rigorous and competitive two week training program with up to four training sessions per day. Focusing on strength development and technique (blade work, body mechanics, and power application), flexibility, mental training, as well as nutrition to enhance performance on the ergometer as well as the water. SEJ does not cut, therefor all athletes that are accepted and attend the program will travel and compete the final week at the 2014 US Rowing Club Nationals in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
